Het Landjuweel 2026

Het Landjuweel is Ruigoord's multi-day cultural festival, filling the village with music, art, performances, rituals, and encounters.

Merja joins the festival with workshops. Northern Roots invites participants into breath, body, and northern root power.

Merja’s workshop is Northern Roots - body, connection and nature. This workshop is for you if you feel a connection to nature, your body, or your roots – but also a sense of disconnection, silence, or something that was never passed on.

In many northern cultures, including Sámi traditions, the core was not a single ritual but a relationship with the land, the body, and rhythm. In this workshop, we don’t try to reconstruct lost traditions, but instead create space where your own connection can begin to re-emerge.

We work with breath, body, sound, and natural elements – listening to the nervous system and building a sense of safety. Inspiration may come from practices like Joiku, not as performance, but as a natural extension of the breath.

In the workshop, we will:

• arrive into the body and regulate the nervous system
• practice guided breathing (rhythm + longer exhales)
• use gentle movement and grounding (earth/contact)
• explore sound as an extension of the breath
• spend time in quiet presence

No prior experience is needed – you participate from your own boundaries.
